Abstract
This study explores the significance of play-based learning in early childhood education, focusing on its role in fostering holistic development among young learners. The objective is to investigate how play enhances cognitive, social, and emotional skills in children aged 3 to 6 years. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from educators, parents, and early childhood specialists across various educational settings in Lagos State, Nigeria. The sample size of 300 respondents is determined using Taro Yamane's formula, ensuring a representative dataset. A case study approach examines a local nursery school renowned for its effective integration of play-based methods. The reliability coefficient score is calculated to ensure the validity of collected data. Findings indicate that play-based learning significantly improves problem-solving abilities and social interaction skills among children. Recommendations emphasize the integration of structured play activities into early childhood curricula to optimize learning outcomes and foster overall child development.
